PRINTER DRIVERS FOR WORD WRITER ST
Because none of the printer drivers included with the WORD
WRITER ST package exactly fit my Panasonic KX-P1091 printer, and
because I am not willing, or wealthy enought, to buy a new printer
to fit the word processor, I set about creating these printer
files for myself. I assume there are others out there in
computerland with the same delemma and feel it is a contribution I
can make to help others.
I have made two drivers here for one simple reason. One is
the default -- draft mode. The other is NLQ. Both give superscript
and subscript, as well as all the other functions of the printer.
The only one left out is compressed mode, which I don't need to
often.
To use the Draft mode file, just place the Printer.CFG file
on your WW disk, (it is also good to have a copy of the file on
your data disk), and load Word Writer. It will load automaticlly.
To use the NLQ file, place the KXP1091.CFG file on your Word
Writer disk, and/or your data disk. When you are ready to print a
file in NLQ, or final draft quality, move the mouse to the Print
menu at the top of your Word Writer Screen. Move to the Select
Printer option, and click the mouse. When the Item Selecter
appears, select KXP1091.CFG and OK, and print as normally.
NOTE! MAKE SURE YOUR PRINTER IS SET TO STD. PGM. OR WAVE
BYE-BYE TO THOSE SPECIAL NUANCES WHEN YOUR FILE PRINTS.The NLQ
mode on your Panasonic TM KX-P1091 does not allow italics,
superscript, or subscript.
It is for this reason that two printer files are necessary.
If you look at the two files in with WWINSTAL.PRG you will note
that the only difference is in the Initialize file and in the
Subscript file. My main policy here was "If it works, don't fix
it." Which, of course has the correlary: "If it don't work, fix
it." I only tried to do my best.
I want to thank whomever put together a file similar to this
for First Word. It is from that file I got much of my information.
So, if you don't have this printer, your may be able to use my
experience, and do the same thing. Note that the first number on
each line in the First word printer file is the number of the line
--DO NOT ENTER THIS NUMBER. Note also that the codes in the First
word printer file are in hexadecimal and must be translated to
decimal to work with Word Writer ST. This trick is fairly easy,
once you get the hang of it.
If you wish to pay me enormous sums of money to create a
printer file for you, or if you just have so much money that you
don't know what to do with it, except, maybe, give it to other
people, leave a note for me on The Atarian BBS (503) 245-9730, of
on the IB-BBS (503)292-1321.
